⦃ D/A INFORMATIVE CARRD ⦄
★ Disclaimer! : This carrd is not written by a professional and merely a person who experiences psychosis, has D/As, and has gained information from the people around him! There is a possibility this carrd might induce reality checking with the coined and medical terms.
⦃ WHAT IS A D/A? ⦄
★ D/As, better known as Delusional Attachments, Delusional Misidentifications (D/M), Psychotic Attachments (P/M), or most commonly seen, IRLs, are specific forms of delusions where a person believes they are a certain person, character, etc.
★ YOU MAY NOT REALITY CHECK THIS PERSON UNLESS THEY GIVE EXPLICIT PERMISSION TO DO SO.
★ More often than not, reality checking harms a person rather than helping.
⦃ HOW TO ACT AROUND A PERSON WITH D/As ⦄
★ The answer is plain and simple! You should treat them like another normal person! Unless the person says they want to be treated a different way, of course! Not every person is the same and you should be respectful of that! If a person is in a delusional state where they believe they’re an innocent dog, you would be allowed to treat them that way! If a person wishes to talk about their media memories to you, they should be allowed to! Just make sure you are respectful and do not correct them on any of their memories or say they are “putting on an act”.
⦃ WOW! HAVING D/As SOUNDS FUN ⦄
★ This is wrong! Having a D/A is not a fun thing! A person is constantly reminded that they are not in their body or their mind from the media they came from or from their memories. In the end, a person should strive to get rid of their D/As even if they are helping them cope temporarily! At the time the person has the D/As, it may help, but later on they may not.
